How to X ring work?
An X-ring is an elastic part placed between two parts and then squeezed to fill up the gap between the two parts. An X-ring has at least four sealing surfaces. When an X- ring is installed, the X-ring is slightly compressed to seal at low pressures. When an X- ring is pressurised, the X-ring is forced to “flow” within the groove toward the clearance gap. The small area between the sealing surfaces can be filled with lubricant to reduce friction and increase lifetime in dynamic applications.
